A Foundation for Communication, Collaboration & Personal Development

At the upcoming East Anglia Safety Construction Group quarterly meet up, Jonathan will be bringing the concept of psychological safety into the construction world. In this educational, conversational and reflective session he’ll be exploring psychological safety – what it is, why it matters for the construction industry, and practical ways leaders can shape the conditions for it to emerge.

The East Anglia Construction Safety Group (EACSG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing health and safety standards within the construction industry in the East Anglia region of the UK. We provide a platform for construction professionals and organizations to discuss safety-related concerns, share best practices, and stay informed on relevant regulations and legislation.

What will we be talking about?

Changes to the Building Safety Act place greater emphasis on construction professionals to demonstrate cooperation, effective communication, and professional development – psychological safety is fundamental to meeting these expectations authentically, not just as compliance.

Modern construction projects require input from multiple disciplines and stakeholders. The old “command and control” approach no longer works when you need genuine cooperation and innovation to deliver complex builds successfully. In environments like this, where you’re dealing with complexity, interdependence and failure, employee voice is critical.

Rather than treating cooperation, communication, and professional development as separate requirements, we’ll examine how they can naturally arise from changing the way of interacting with each other.

As a certified Fearless Organisation Scan practitioner, Jonathan can support you in the education, assessment and improvement of psychological safety in your organisation. If the state of the dialogue in your organisation is not working to your advantage, if there are polite nods rather than vigorous dialogue, or a culture of the after-meeting meeting, then contact Jonathan to talk about how we can help.
